🔥TECH NEWS #5 - The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released its latest for the month of May and has claimed that has pipped Bharti to become the second-largest in terms of subscribers. secured about 323 million customers while Bharti Aitel has 320.38 million. But the telco that tops the list is Kumar Mangalam Birla led, with 387.55 million subscribers. In terms of active subscribers, Bharti Airtel is at the top with at 99.86%, or 320 million users. Vodafone Idea has just over 86%, or 33.3 million, while Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio had 83%, or just over 268 million active subscribers. Airtel lost 1.51 million users in May while Vodafone Idea, 5.7 million subscribers. On the contrary, Jio added 8.2 million subscribers, according to Trai’s May data, which helped mainly through its 4G feature phone JioPhone. Top five service providers constituted a 98.69% market share of the total broadband subscribers at the end of May-19. These service providers include Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (322.99 million), Bharti Airtel (118.34 million), Vodafone Idea (109.01 million), BSNL (21.67 million) and Tata Teleservices (1.87 million), as per Trai. As on May 31, the top five wired broadband service providers were BSNL (9.09 million), Bharti Airtel (2.39 million), Atria Convergence Technologies (1.44 million), Hathway Cable & Datacom (0.83 million) and MTNL (0.75 million). The top five wireless broadband service providers were Reliance Jio (322.99 million), Bharti Airtel (115.95 million), Vodafone Idea (108.99 million), BSNL (12.57 million) and Tata Teleservices (1.49 million), the report added.
